random forensics junk.
Thursday. 8.23.07 1:15 am
If you've read any of my previous posts, you know that I've been quite the procrastinator and have been putting off school work up until the very last minute. I'm up late doing my forensics work, and I thought I'd share some random information. It may not be all that interesting to some of you, but it's what I'm doing, it's my blog, and I feel like posting it, so there. haha. ;] Enjoy.

• A compromised crime scene is no joke. In 1970, investigators sent to handle the Jeffrey MacDonald case were extremely careless. The crime scene was not secured, therefore allowing civilians to come and go as they pleased. The bodies of MacDonald's murdered wife and children were moved before outlines were drawn, preventing the reconstruction of the scene as evidence. Investigators used the phones, items in the kitchen, and pretty well screwed up any real evidence they had. Want to read more? Here's the source I've used. http://www.karisable.com/mac2.htm

• "Eyeprints", also known as iris or retinal scans, are better than fingerprints when it comes to accuracy and speed. The likelihood of two people having the same iris is one in ten to the 78th power. The disadvantages are that a lot of people seem to think that having their eye scanned is a little too intrusive, there isn't enough funding, and apparently both user and operator need to know what they're doing to use such technology. • When one says that a racehorse has been "doped," it doesn't mean that they've been slowed down. It means that they've been given just enough of an immobilizing drug to speed them up and help up their chances of winning their race. It's illegal, and if done the wrong way, can kill the horse.
